Michael (Mike) Henson has over 25 years experience in the auction industry. He began his career attending various auctions as a buyer, seller and occasional helper. He graduated from Mendenhall School of Auctioneering in High Point, NC in August 1988, and learned the business from the ground up. He is knowledgeable in all types of appraisals, with many contacts in the antique and furniture businesses. Mike believes that every good auctioneer needs to have done everything involved with conducting a successful auction.

Mike is well versed in all types of auctions. Antiques, automobiles/trucks ('dealer only' and public), real estate (residential and commercial), business lquidations, bankruptcies, commercial and industrial equipment, jewelry & artwork, general household items and fund raising are all areas where his skills have been developed. He has conducted real estate auctions in Maryland, Washington D. C. and throughout Virginia. His services as an auctioneer and/or ringman (bid spotter) are utilized by many other auction firms because of his positive, upbead demeanor and ability to create excitement during the auction. He has placed 2nd, 4th and 6th in the Virginia Auctioneers Association's Champion Auctioneer Contest. He has used his skills as a promotional and motivational auctioneer in radio broadcasts and many civic and social events.

Like many auctioneers, Mike places a great deal of importance on "giving back" as evidenced by his community involvement. He attends Western Branch Community Church in Chesapeake, VA, where he serves as a Community Group Leader and in the charitable or non-profit groups, including: American Cancer Socity, American Heart Association, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Duck's Unlimited, Norfolk & Virginia Beach SPCA, Virginia Stage Company, Portsmouth Children's Museum, Chrysler Museum of Art, Boy Scouts of America, Goodwill Industries, The Salvation Army, YWCA Women's Shelter, Norfolk Zoological Gardens' Zoo-To-Do, Atlantic Shores Christian School, Norfolk Academy, Virginia Wesleyan University Alumni Association and many more.
