William D. (Bill) Irvin

Lead Appraiser & Director of Research

William D. (Bill) Irvin is Lead Appraiser and Director of Research. His responsibilities include the appraisal of personal property for fiduciaries and private clients throughout Virginia and the research and identification of the regional characteristics of period furniture and decorative arts. Bill continues to increase his knowledge base by attending noteworthy seminars, including the 2008 Furniture Forum held at the Winterthur Museum. Bill’s expertise in the visual and microscopic analysis of wood is a valuable asset to his roles as appraiser and researcher.

Bill has been the owner of Harrington and Winchester, an appointment only antique furniture and decorative arts establishment, for over twenty years. He and his wife live in a Federal manor house built in 1812.

Bill received his Bachelor of Science degree from The University of Tennessee. His Master of Science and Doctoral degrees are from Virginia Tech.
